Experience

First and foremost, thank you for visiting my profile! While I recently graduated from Wayne State Law School and have made contributions to the legal field, my passion for teaching has never dipped. A law degree and a political science degree from Oakland University have equipped me with wide-ranging skills in written and verbal communication. In regards to writing, I became well-versed in developing structured essays, forming persuasive arguments, writing understandably, and being grammatically correct. In regards to speaking, I have taken numerous classes about effective oral communication. Due to extra-curriculars, I have given many speeches during undergrad and law school. During law school, I learned how to structure oral arguments and strengthen my argument. Besides writing and verbal skills, I received high grades in political science, history, english, and creative writing. I was in National Honor Society during high school and placed on the Dean's List multiple times during undergrad. Moreover, I was placed on Oakland's Political Science Honor Society. I enjoy empowering students to reach their personal goals--inside and outside of the classroom. Due to personal experience, I understand the importance of having a mentor. I have formally and informally served as a mentor in many capacities; in each of these settings, I strove to set a positive example and provided guidance when fitting. I also researched and presented effective mentoring techniques for the Detroit Public School Foundation. I'm currently a pre-law mentor for Eisenhower High School students. In order to keep improving upon performance, I believe that communication between myself and the parent is important. After each session, I will describe what we accomplished to the parent. I will also periodically provide assessments and progress reports. Since I value open-communication, I welcome feedback on my personal performance. I will never charge a session when a parent or student is not satisfied with my tutoring. While I'm open to your suggestions, I view public libraries as ideal locations for tutoring sessions. The North Branch Macomb Library (24 Mile Rd and Romeo Plank) and Shelby Township Library (on Van Dyke Ave, between 24 Mile Rd and 23 Mile Rd) locations work well. Yet, I'll gladly travel to another location if it is more convenient for the student. Please feel free to ask me questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
